Links

Here’s another linkdump for everyone. No descriptions. Some aren’t necessary. Trust me, they are all worth it. It’s not like you are on my blog because you have something better to do. You don’t. So might as well trust me, and laugh your ass off.

How hood is your hood Philly?

9 10 2009

We all know how the interwebs work. You start looking for a good Lamb Shank Ragù with Anson Mills Grits recipe, and next thing you know you have spent the last two hours watching dancing babies on YouTube. Or, was just going to post a quick question on Yahoo! Answers, but instead spend time finding out how the recession is really affecting those who matter.

So somehow in the midst of all this, I stumbled across this little informational tool, courtesy of the Philadelphia Police Department. The two bummer parts are you can only search over a month long category, and you can only choose one crime category at a time. Surely this is because if anyone could look at a compiled map, people would move the fuck out.

Various stuff…

I have been bookmarking things at work and at home to post, but haven’t been able to get around posting them.

Here are a few great reads.

On the subject of the Mexican Cartels, I pay attention to this blog, which is a blog about organized crime, and he pulls links and reports from all around the world. The reporting that is being done in the west and southwest about the Mexican cartels, and the epidemic violence taking place on both sides of the border isn’t really getting any play on the East Coast, despite reports like this.

Miscellaneous sites and blogs I have been paying attention to:

I am about halfway though this book. Pretty inspirational. Just finished the section on Manik Chandra Saha. Probably fueling my interest in investigative journalism right now.
